　　作者在后序中说，“我和主人公一起生活。每天从早到晚，又夜以继日。我为他们的欢乐而欢乐，为他们的痛苦而痛苦。我已经舍不得和我的人物分开。当我把他们一个一个地送离人间的时候，我被生死离别折磨得痛彻肺腑。”然而故事中的人，还是要离开，一个又一个，排着队似的，不紧不慢地离开。悲剧故事都不可避免的如此。

　　印象最深的是，韩子奇身处英国伦敦时给家里寄去的那封信。说是一封信，却也只是简单的一句话——“我们还活着。你们还活着吗?”还活着吗……在那样一个战争动乱年间，信竟然是这样写的，如此的问候，我心里一阵凄凉，一滴眼泪往下落。

　　在这本厚重的书里，可以看到两代人的凄美爱情，看到爱情中的无奈和悲哀。有时候我们确实是爱着的，但也因为爱着，才会感到无奈，做出些伤到别人也伤到自己的事。
