one day morning, an administrative official dropped in father’s shop and announced a governmental decree: “no incense business is permitted since it is for feudal superstition.”
just like a lightning bolt, my mother and father were shocked because our family life had immediately been driven to a corner. without this self-support means how could a 9-folk family with the majority of the elderly and little kids make its life?
they had no way to survive but selling their possessions gradually.
after a while, some of our neighbors felt pity to our situation and asked my father to assist them in construction work. my father was a craft man not a labor. with less physical strength, he was really suffering in this heavy-duty work.
came to the year end of 1950, it should be the holy time for ancestor worship as per local custom. however, since new government firmly forbade such practice, all such activities associated were considered illegal. even though, there were still some countrymen constantly came to our shop and asked for incenses slinkingly. it really scared my honest and timid father.
my mother was a strong and determined person. she insisted in selling out all inventory. “it is my idea and determination. none of your business.” she said to my father who was trembling and full of fear. “if someone considers it as crime, put me into prison. ok?” she was inspiring awe by upholding justice, “how could a business be stopped just by one word without buffering time to treat those raw materials and products on stock?” mother’s words sounded reasonable, but we all knew it was an excuse caused by the cornered financial situation. as saying “necessity knows no law”, she was risking a danger by desperation.
sure enough, father’s business was recovered in secret way. customers came to our shop in front door and carried incenses with a towel covered basket out from back door.
the sales income made my parents very happy, because they would have enough money to celebrate new year feast.
nothing happened until september 29.

The ways to educate 教育的方式
A debate heated up recently, thanks to Amy Chua’s book about a Chinese “tiger mother”. In her latest book entitled “The Battle Hymn of a Tiger Mother”, Amy describes how she adopt s traditional Chinese methods to educate her children, which is considered by many westerners to be too hard and inhuman.
One of the issues being discussed after the book was published is whether early education should focus on children’s happiness. Those supporting the idea argue that early education is intended to help children grow up in a cheerful atmosph ere and inspire them to better themselves in an all-round way. Therefore we should allow children to enjoy the happiness which can only be found during their childhood. On the contrary, people holding the opposite view insist that since in reality life is full of happiness and pain, children should be well prepared for that even during childhood. Otherwise, they would find it hard to adapt to life in the future.
In my opinion, just as Confucius said, education methods should be adopted based on individual personalities. Moreover, educators should respect children as independent human beings.

The whole nation memorizes all those sacrificed; regard them as the heroes，no matter what they have contributed. As their tiny deeds to gether let the nation see signs to recover， to go through the very hard time. Now everyone's life is surrounded by the heroes and new heroes are being born out of the tragedy......
One of the most touching story in the devastating time was that one husband sent a sms， just saying "I love you"， to his dear one on the crashing plane. It echoed in everyone's emotion senses. Love is the greatest gift that God gave us. It can really help to heal man's wound. Couples， friends， all went out， wandering together in the dawn， seeing the sun set for the first time in their ages. Without their jobs， they came to realize the meaning of peaceful life and learn what they need most was the love from the people around them. We learn to appreciate others' love and sending ours in return. Thank God we have some ones to love. Thank God the disaster calls us up for the meaning of love.
Another word most frequently used after that September day is "united". Regardless of races， all were collecting， standing in lines to give their blood， holding hands when XXX prayers. Strangers no longer were cold. They began to talk and might become friends. The distance between people seems to be shortened. If you call it magic， it does happen! The circle of our life cannot still be fixed in the certain area any more. The community is made up of every person living in it;no one alone should stand for the collectivity. It's high time to be united to rebuild their homeland.
Facing the ruin of the WTC， I hear the calling telling me what really matters. Looking up to heaven， I seem to get some kind of answers.
