e.g. It’s bigger than Alice's fiat. It's the biggest flat.
Pre-task preparation
1 Review: bedroom, bathroom, sitting-room and kitchen. Ask: Where do you sleep/have a bath/watch television/wash the dishes? to elicit: In the bedroom/bathroom/sitting-room/kitchen
2 Play the recording: Look and learn. Students listen and repeat.
3 Give the students five minutes to study the three floor plans in Look and count. Ask them to count and fill in the number of rooms below each plan.
4 Ask: How many rooms does the big/bigger/biggest flat have? to elicit: Five/Six/Eight.
5 Have the students complete the three speech bubbles individually. Ask: Who lives in the big/bigger/biggest flat? to elicit: Alice/Eddie/Ben and Kitty.
While-task procedure
Distribute a copy of Photocopiablepage 41 to each pair. Students are required to work in pairs and study the three floor plans. They write and guess which flat the man will buy.
