Teaching Aims:

1.Let the Ss master the new grammar: The Active Voice and the Passive Voice

2. Get the ss to master some useful expressions.

3. Encourage the Ss to train their abilities of listening , writing, and speaking through reading the text..

Lesson 33.

Properties: Recorder, overhead projector; pictures and some real objects

Language focus:

Useful expressions: be made of; bruch; woolen; apiece of metal/ wool; lock doors; have a try.

Teaching Procedures:

Ⅰ. Showing aims:

1. Master some useful expressions.

2. Learn the grammar: The Active Voice and the Passive Voice.

Ⅱ. Revision

Check homework.. According the pictures , learn the new words.

Ⅲ.Presentation:

Show the SS the real objects, at the same time ask the Ss three questions. Do not write the questions on the BB , just practise orally. The three questions are:

1) What’s this in English?

2) What’s it made of?

3) What’s it used for?

Encourage the Ss to answer them correctly. Teach the SS the knowledge of this part through speaking. Try to answer the three questions. Make them understand the lesson.

Ⅳ.Practice:

T: Ask the Ss to describe the new words in English. Practising: be made of; be used for doing, and keep.

Present this dialogue:

A What’s it made of?

B: It’s made of metal.

A: What’s it used for?

B: It’s used for doing…

A: Can you keep the room clean?

B: OK.

See if the SS can make sentences with them. Play the tape again fot the Ss to repeat.

Ask the students to make up a similar dialogue, and share with the class.

Ⅴ.Teaching grammar:

T: Today we have learn The Active Voice and the Passive Voice. Look at the examples on theBb.

The Active Voice and the Passive Voice.

1. Many people speak English. English is spoken by many people.

2. They produce wool in this factory. Wool is produced in this factory.

3. She uses pans for cooking. Pans are used for cooking by her.

4. Everyone loves me. I am loved by everyone.

5. People make kites in Beijing. Kites are made in Beijing.

Ask the ss to make ten sentences, and change them into Passive Voice of different forms. They may do it by themselves or individually. After that, choose some Ss to read their sentences. At last, let them hand in their writings.

Read the dialogue in pairs. Have some of the SS read it for the class.

Ⅵ.Presentation:

Part 1. Book closed. Listen to the tape and answer the question: What’s this?

Look at the dialogue in Part1. Have the ss ask and answer in pairs and write down the answers. Use the questions of Part 1 to help.Get some SS to share their answers in the class.

Ⅶ. Workbook:

1. Do Exx 2 orally in pairs. Have the Ss ask and answer in pairs. Check the answers with the whole class.

1) Do Exx 3 in the exercise books. Have the ss do it by themselves, then discuss in pairs.

Lesson 34.

Properties: Recorder, overhead projector; pictures and some real objects

Language focus:

Useful expressions: the number of; the most; else; none.

Teaching Procedures:

Ⅰ. Showing aims:

1. Master some useful expressions and understand some difficult sentences..

2. Read the passage, try to do some reading comprehension.

3. Learn The Active Voice and the Passive Voice.

4. Do some reading comprehension.

Ⅱ. Revision:

1.Check homework.

Revise Lesson 33. Practise the dialogue of Lesson 33 in front of the class.

Revise some useful expressions. Have the Ss discuss it in groups of four, then get some groups to give out their ideas.

Have the SS give some instructions to decorate the Christmas tree.

Ⅲ. Presentation:

Show the Ss a map of the world on the Bb. Have the SS watch and have some knowledge about the countries in the world. Go over the names of different countries. Ask : What’s the name of the country? Or Do you know the name of the country? Ask the SS to pay attention to the spellings.

Ⅳ.Pre-read:

In small groups, get the Ss to discuss about the countries.

Get the Ss ask and answer in pairs. Then share the answers with the whole class.

Ⅴ. Read:

Speech cassette. Play the tape for the Ss to listen and try to find the answers to the questions. Check the answers with the class.

Books open. Get the Ss to practise the dialogue in pairs. Give them a few minutes for them to discuss, then ask some of the SS to give their reports to share with the class.

Ⅵ. Practice:

Have the ss make sentences with the useful expressions, see if they use them freely.

Then play the tape again for the Ss to repeat.

Choose some important ones to explain and practice more.

Notes: 1. the number of: The number of the doctors in this hospital is only two.

A number of: A large number of students will go to the Great wall.

2.the most: Xia Man is one of the most beautiful cities in China.

3. else: Do you have anything else to tell me?

What else will you do tomorrow?

Have the Ss know the difference between “else and other.”

4. none: I need some chains but there was none in the classroom.

Ⅶ. Reading:

Ask the SS to listen carefully. Then stop the tape while the SS are listening, and ask them to go on reading. It can test the SS’ abilities to follow the passage as it is read on the tape.

Read the passage individually and help them to retell the story of English is widely used.

Ⅷ. Workbook:

1) Do Exx 2 orally in class. Have the Ss read the dialogue in pairs, then check in class. And write down their own ideas in the exercise books.

2) Do Exx 3 in the exercise books. Have the ss do it by themselves, then discuss in pairs.

3) Do Ex4. first orally, then share with the class.

Teaching Procedures:

Ⅰ. Showing aims:

1.Master some useful expressions.

2.Go on revising the grammar: the Active Voice and the Passive Voice.

Have the SS to make some sentences to master the Active Voice and the Passive Voice.

Make up their own dialogues.

Ⅱ. Revision:

1.Check homework;

2.Revise the passage of Lesson 34. First get the Ss to ask and answer some questions about the passage, see if they can understand the passage correctly. Get one of them to retell it. Revise the Active Voice and the Passive Voice by making sentences.

Ⅲ.Presentation:

Present this dialogue:

A: What’s the desk made of?

B: It’s made of wood.

A: What’s it used for?

B: For the SS to study.

Divide the class into small groups. Have the ss make up new dialogues in groups. Ask some of them share with the whole class. Pay attention to the usage of the Active Voice and the Passive Voice.

Ⅳ.Ask and answer:

Part1. Have the SS ask and answer in pairs. Remember the structure of this sentence: Where is silk produced? It’a produced in Suzhou and Hangzhou.

Ⅴ.Practice:

Speech cassette. Play the tape for the Ss to listen and repeat. Then in pairs, have the Ss read and act the dialogue, ask several pair to perform the dialogue for the class. See if the ss can answer correctly

Book open. Play the tape again, and get the Ss to repeat after the tape.

Ⅵ.Ask and answer:

Part1. Go through the dialogue and words in the boxes. Check understanding of thr words through translation. Practise the dialogue with the SS.

Discuss the Active Voice and The Passive Voice. Write down the report, and get some of the SS to read out their report for the class.

Ⅶ. Workbook:

1.Do Exx 1 orally with the whole class. Discuss the answers with the partner, and finish the dialogue. Have two students read the dialogue in pairs, then check the answers in class.

2.Do Exx 2 as homework., then write down the sentences. The answers are: of;of;made, grown; produced.

Ⅹ. Summary.

Make three similar dialogues.

Lesson 36.

Properties: Recorder, overhead projector; pictures and some real objects

Language focus:

The Active Voice and the Passive Voice.

Teaching Procedures:

Ⅰ. Showing aims:

1.Master The Active Voice and the Passive Voice.

2.Revise all the contents of Unit 9.

3.To train their listening and writing abilities.

4.Go through Checkpoint9.

5. Write a short passage to train the SS’ writing abilities.

Ⅱ. Revision:

1.Check homework.

2.Go through the dialogue in Lesson 35. see if the Ss can retell it in their own words.

Revise The Active Voice and the Passive Voice. Have the Ss make sentences using The Active Voice and the Passive Voice. Get the ss to discuss in groups. Make sure the Ss can use The Active Voice and the Passive Voice correctly.

Ⅲ.Listen

Listening cassette. Go through the Ex1 in WB with the Ss. Play the tape for the ss to listen and finish Ex 1 in WB . Play the tape again, Get the SS to check their answers. Then check with the whole class. Make sure that they can understand.

Ex2. in the Wb. Listening cassette. Get the ss to listen and repeat after the tape.

Ⅳ.Presentation:

Put up some pictures on the Bb . Have the Ss talk about the pictures. Go through the pictures one by one. Make sure the Ss can understand the pictures.

Get individual student to ask and answer. Encourage them to try to say out all kinds of the ways that they know.

Ⅴ. Write:

Write the model on the bb. Shoe the ss how to change an active Voice into a passive voice.Then have the ss write some sentences. Ask some students to give out their reports.

Ⅵ. Presentation:

Part 2. Books closed. Listen to the tape and answer the questions: Where’s the digital camera? How much is it? What about the ordinary one?

Play the tape again for the SS to listen and repeat, then act out the dialogue.

Ⅷ. Checkpoint 9.

Go through Checkpoint 9 with the Ss. Solve any problems that the Ss may have. Make sentences with the useful expressions, and make sure that the Ss can use them freely. Get the Ss to go over the grammar notes.

Ⅹ.Workbook:

1. Do Exx 3 orally in class. Do it in Ex book. Pay attention to the stress.

2. Do Exx 4 with the Ss in class. Practise the dialogue in pairs.

3. Do Ex5 orally in class. First in pairs and then, write down two of them in their homework.
