这两个词都可以用来说明程度，在句中常作状语，可修饰动词、形容词、副词的原级或比较级，意思是"有点儿"。如：
This pair of shoes is a bit/a little expensive.这双鞋有点儿贵。
This film is a bit/a little more interesting than that one.这部电影比那部有意思。
a bit作定语修饰名词时，须接of短语。如：
He knows a little/a bit of English.他懂点儿英语。
I've got a bit of problem. 我有点儿麻烦。
在否定句中，二者意义相反。not a little表示肯定意义，相当于very或greatly,意思是"很；非常"；not a bit是加强否定的语气，相当于"not ... at all",意思是"一点儿也不"。如：
She is not a little good at English.她擅长英语。
She is not a bit good at French.她一点儿也不擅长法语。
He was not a little surprised. 他很吃惊。
I'm not a bit tired. 我一点儿也不累。
a little of后的名词通常为特指，表示"......中的一些"。not a bit可分开，not a little不可分开。如：
May I have a little of your tea?我可以喝点你的茶吗？
He spends not a little on books.他在书籍方面花了很多钱。
You'd think she'd be tired after such a long journey, but not a bit of it!你以为她在这么长的旅行之后一定会很疲劳，可是她一点儿也不累！
