1. Three students are searching the room of Linda Bell who has disappeared. 三名学生正在搜查失踪的林达比尔的房间。 search vt. 搜查；在……中搜寻； search sb. / sp. (for sth.) 搜查某人(身体) / 某地；e.g. They searched him but didn’t find anything they wanted. 他们搜了他的身，但没有找到他们想找的东西。**** search 与 search for 的区别：search 搜查；(其宾语是某人/某一地点) search for 寻找;(其宾语是搜查之后要得到的东西/人) e.g. The villagers are searching the woods for the lost child. 村民们正在搜查森林以寻找失踪的孩子。 in search of 去寻找……；追求……； 这个短语中的search是名词。 e.g. He went in search of a doctor for his sick wife. 他去为他的生病的妻子寻找一位医生。 **** 名词search前如果有定冠词the或形容词性物主代词， 则search 后面的介词用for而不用of 。 e.g. He joined us in the search for the missing child. 他和我们一块儿去寻找那失踪的孩子。Would you join us in our search for water? 你愿意和我们一块儿去找水吗？
2. I’m sure she’ll just turn up. 我相信她会出现的。turn up 露面；出现；开大；好转；发生；e.g. Don’t worry, your mobile phone will turn up. I’m sure it will turn up in somewhere. 别着急，你的手机一定会出来的。我坚信一定可以在什么地方找到它的。 The missing child turned up an hour later. 一个小时后那个失踪的小孩被找到了。 I’ll meet you on Friday unless anything special turns up. 我星期五和你见面，除非发生特殊情况。We’ll hold a basketball match this afternoon if the weather turns up. 如果天气好转下午我们打一场篮球。
3. Something may have happened to her. 她可能发生了什么事。happen to sb. 某人出了什么事； e.g. What has happened to you? What happened to your right arm? 你怎么了？你的右胳臂怎么样了？ What finally happened to that boy? 那个男孩子最后怎么样了？*** happen to do sth. 碰巧发生了某事；e.g. You happened to be out when he called that day. 那天他来访时你碰巧不在家。I happened to have read the book. 我碰巧读过那本书。It happened to be National Day. 那天碰巧是国庆节。
4. It’s not like her to have missed two days of class. 她耽误了两天的课，她可不像是这样的人。It’s just like sb. to do sth. 某人恰恰就是……的人；e.g. It’s just like him to leave the work to others. 他就是这样的人，把工作推给别人。It’s not like him to have said anything like that. 他可不是说出那种话的人。It is not like him to have cheated in exam. 他可不是那种在考试中作弊的人。
5. Obviously she has gone somewhere to stay. 显然，她去什么地方呆下来了。 to stay 待下；e.g. The new ideas have come to stay. 这种新思想已经扎下了根。
6. In actual fact, I think you are right. 事实上我觉得你是对的。 in actual fact 实际上；e.g. He looks younger than his wife, but in actual fact he is older. 他看上去比妻子年轻，可实际上他比她大。
