系动词:属于动词的一种,有词义,但不能单独作谓语,只能和后面的表语,可以是形容词,名词,介词短语构成谓语。

阅读理解

The great ship, Titanic, set off for America in April 1912 on its first trip. It carried more than 1 000 people.

The Titanic was the largest and finest ship at that time and it had 16 compartments(密封舱). Even if(即使) four of those compartments were broken, it would still be able to stay on the sea.

Four days later, when the Titanic was crossing the sea, the man on watch suddenly saw a very large iceberg ahead. The great ship turned in time, but soon there was a great noise from below. The captain went down to see what the matter was. To his surprise, he found the ship was sinking fast because five compartments were broken! Hundreds of people jumped into the water. As there were not enough lifeboats, about 1 500 lives were lost.

语法聚焦

原因状语从句

原因状语从句表示主句所发生的原因或理由。通常由because, as, since, for等词引导。

1. because语气最强,用于回答why的提问,不能和so并存。可放在主句前,也可放在主句后面。

eg:I didn’t go to school, because I was ill yesterday.

2. as和since语气较弱,用来表示非常明显的原因或者对方已经了解的原因。从句一般放在主句前面。

eg: As all the seats were full, he had to stood there.

Since you are going, I will go, too.

3. for一般表示理由,进一步说明。常放在主句后面。

eg: He wore more clothes, for it was cold.

同级比较句型

1. 肯定形式as…as… ……和……一样

A+ be+ as+ 形容词原级+ as+ B eg: Helen is as tall as Maria.

A+行为动词+as+副词原级+as + B eg: Helen runs as quickly as Maria.

2.否定形式 not as/so…as… ……不如……

A+ be+ not + as/so+ 形容词原级+ as + B

eg: Helen isn’t as tall as Maria.

A+don’t/doesn’t/didn’t+动词原形+as/so+副词原级+as + B

eg: Helen doesn’t run as/so quickly as Maria.

注:①无论是肯定结构as…as…还是否定结构not as/so…as..,中间都用形容词或副词原级。②谓语若是be,则用形容词原级;谓语若是行为动词,则用副词原级。
