W: Look at the black clouds in the sky! We will have a heavy rain very soon.
M: What shall I do then? Mr Li borrowed my car this morning, but he hasn’t returned
it. I must go to pick up my son from school right away.
W: I have a phone here with me. Why not ring him up?
M: Good idea, I will.
(Text 3)
W: Oh, it’s you, James. I didn’t recognize you.

W: You have a point there, but it is much too difficult for me to go to work in such a

W: Oh, how lucky I am today! Is it far from here?

W: There is a wonderful film on at the cinema this evening. Let’s see it together, dear.
M: All right. It’s a long time since I went to the cinema.
W: The film begins at eight. We shall have plenty of time before the film begins.
M: Well, after supper, we can do some shopping nearby. I’d like to relax completely.
W: But I don’t have anything to buy at present.
M: We needn’t buy anything. We can just have a walk in the shops and stores. It is a
good way of relaxing, I think.
W: Good idea. Well, let’s cook our supper.

M: In Mary’s, I mean the shop just behind our company.
W: Are there any more such dresses there? I’d like to buy one for myself.
M: I think there still are.
W: Thank Goodness. I’ll go and buy one this afternoon.
(Text 10)
Henry Ford was born in a poor family. He was the eldest of the six children. When he was a boy, he became interested in watches and machines. When he was twelve years old, his mother died. Soon he had to work in a machine shop for two dollars and fifty cents a week. In the evenings, he repaired watches for another hour for another dollar a week. The hard life made him strong and able.
At that time there was another interest in the life of young Ford. He hoped to make a machine. It could run without horses. He overcame a lot of difficulties and in April 1893, the “horseless carriage” was invented at last. It was the first car.
Later, Henry Ford founded the Ford Motor Company. He was really the first inventor of the car in the world.

One possible version:
Life in the future
Sometimes I dream about life in the future. What will it be like? Perhaps some people will go traveling in the moon and other planets for a holiday, and some scientists can live under the sea to do their research work. Maybe we’ll have videophones in every home. I’m sure there’ll be more educational programs on the radio and TV, so children won’t need to go to school every day and will study at home. And we will have more time to enjoy ourselves, for robots will do most of the housework for us.
I believe the dream will come true, and the life in the future will be much happier.
