3. Grammar: Revise the verb tenses.

4. Language use: the students are got involved in listening, speaking, reading and writing practice to improve their language use abilities.

5. Aesthetics education: after learning this unit, the students are encouraged to know something more about gymnastics and do some more exercise to build up their health.

Ⅱ. Time arrangement:

This unit is going to be finished in 7 teaching periods, including a unit test and a supplementary listening test.

Lesson 33

2. Language use: Manipulate listening, speaking practice for the students to use the language.

3. Learn the expressions used in a restaurant

Ⅳ. Teaching procedures:

Step 1. Revision

(1) Check the homework exercises of the previous unit.

(2) Revise the expressions of used between the doctor and the patients.

Step 2. Presentation

SB Page 49, Part 1. Tell the students that we are going to learn a dialogue between Sharon and her doctor.

Step 3. Listening

Now listen to the dialogue and answer the questions on Wb P105, Ex.1. Pick out some ss to answer the questions.

Step 4. Reading and explanations

Now get the students to read the dialogue in pairs and underline the difficulties and the key points that they think. Explain some of the language difficulties if any and if necessary.

Step 5. Practice

SB P49, Part 2. Tell the students this part is compiled to practice the most commonly used expressions between the doctor and the patient. Tell the students to work in pairs to match the two parts to form a short dialogue. After they have finished, get some pairs to read their answers to the rest of the class.

Step 6. Workbook

Workbook Lesson 33, Exx.3~3. Get the students to do the exercises individually and then check the answers with the students.

Homework

(1) Finish off the exercises of Lesson 33 in the workbook.

Ⅰ. Teaching aims:

1. 2. Revise the grammar: revise the tenses

3. Get the students to read the text using the following reading skills: skimming scanning and note taking.

Step 1. Revision

(1) Check the homework exercises.

Step 2. Pre-reading discussion

Get the students to talk about the topic in groups of four or five: “How do you know about gymnastics?”

Step 3. Skimming

Now get the students to read the text and answer the following questions:

① What do gymnasts have to do in gymnastics completions?

② Why do girls perform in gymnastics competitions earlier than boys?

Step 4. Scanning

Now get the students to read the text and decide the statements are true or false on Wb P106, Ex.1. Answer the questions with the class. Answers: See Wb P106.

Step 5. Note making

SBP51, Part 3, tell the students to read the text more carefully to find out the specific information. The ss are told to find out the relevant information to fill in the box. After they have finished the work, get some students to yell out their answers to the rest of the class.

Step 7. Study

SB P51, Part 4. Get the students to study the “you; yourself; your” in the text, which can be used impersonally. Tell them to find out all the examples in the text.

Get the students to do the wb exercises individually and then check the answers with the class. Answers: See Wb P106.
